The Career and Technical Education (CTE) Industry Scholars Program supports high school students in advancing their postsecondary education and career aspirations though valuable hands on experience.
CYE is supporting the NYC Department of Education’s Office of Postsecondary Readiness and Grant Associates, a city-wide workforce services provider, in an effort to dramatically expand high quality work experiences, including paid school-year and summer internships, for CTE students. CTE Industry Scholars offers students work readiness, career exploration and internships in six sectors:
- Auto and transportation
- Business and finance
- Construction and engineering
- Information Technology
- Media, tech, and design
- Culinary, hospitality, and tourism
Grant and other provider organizations work directly with a cohort of CTE schools and employers within the six sectors to secure more and better work based learning opportunities, including internships, while building school capacity to manage high quality partnerships. Industry Scholars at CTE schools participate in sector-specific work-based learning activities, training, and placement in an internship.
